A Special Treat for a Special Lady February 3, 2012 at 6:42 pm

The Historic Granbury Gunslinger’s Sarge had to find a Valentine’s gift for his best friend and long-time companion. This special lady stood with him through thick and thin, worked with him in the bitter, winter cold and scorching summer heat — yet never complained.

Finding that special something came to him early that morning as he looked into her beautiful brown eyes and softly stroked her chestnut hair, gently pushing it back from her face. As if reading his mind, she nuzzled his neck, then turned and walked away. He watched her slender legs and the girth of her hips that gently swayed with each step.–beauty in motion. He hopped into his Jeep and headed into Granbury on a mission.

As Sarge drove around the Square, he noticed a group of new stores called, the Yellow Door and one store in particular “The Cowboy Daze!” He mused to himself, “With a name like that they are bound to have something fitting for my little honey.”

Entering the Yellow Door, he bumped into two fellow Gunslingers who were sampling fudge from the Granbury Sampler. “Hey, guys, which way to the cowboy department? I’ve gotta get a Valentine’s gift.”

Smiling and winking, Doc, Pecos said, “What’s wrong, Sarge? Little Red got her dander up? Which honey-do did you skip out on this morning?”

Doc, bite into his fifth sample of fudge. “You could just get some of this fudge.”

Sarge, looking distraught, growled, “Little Red ain’t mad and I don’t need no fudge! I just need a special treat for my sweetie!”

Hearing the distraught man, Ms. Emily from The Cowboy Daze held up a lovely yellow scarf adorned with a silver heart and suggested, “Perhaps your lady would enjoy one of these jewelry scarves.”

“Those are awfully pretty, mam, but I just don’t think that will fit my lady,” chuckled Sarge as he tipped his hat and turned to leave.

Perplexed by Sarge’s assertion about the scarf being too small for his lady, Pecos decided he better see if he could help Sarge. “Wait up, Sarge, Doc and I are goin’ with you.”

Thirsty as usual, Doc suggested that they go over to D’Vine Wine.

“Great idea, Doc,” said Pecos, “You could get her a gift certificate for their Massage and Merlot night.”

“Well, I can tell you she won’t cotton to no Merlot, but she might enjoy a massage,” said Sarge. “She won’t fit on that little bench called a massage chair.”

Really confused, Pecos grabbed Sarge by the arm and asked, “Hold on, just who is this special lady you‘re hankering after? I know Little Red ain’t too big for that scarf or to fit on a massage bench!”

“Little Red! Who said anything about Little Red? I am looking for a gift for my horse,” laughed Sarge as he jumped into his Jeep to head off to Arrow Feed where he knew he would find that special treat for his special lady!
